ST. LOUIS – Missouri Democratic Party Chairman Michael Butler released the following statement after learning of AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka’s passing.

“I was devastated to see the news of Rich Trumka’s passing today. He was and will remain one of the most powerful voices for workers, families and Americans. Rich never stood back when he saw something that was not right – he stood up tall and devoted himself to working people. He was determined to protect laborers against corporate America and keep our middle class strong. With his unparalleled leadership and the entire AFL-CIO, we know courageous voices and new leaders will continue his devoted work. Labor unions, the state of Missouri and the county have so much to thank Trumka for.”
