Missouri Democratic Party Celebrates The Successful Return of Camp Carnahan Campaign Training Program - July 2025

July 17, 2025
Last weekend, the Missouri Democratic Party hosted over 100 Missourians from across the state for a weekend of campaign training led by top political operatives and organizers. First launched in 1997 by Governor Mel Carnahan, Camp Carnahan has trained over 1,200 Democrats, many of whom have gone on to win elected office or lead successful campaigns. This summer’s two-day program continued that legacy with hands-on instruction, guest speakers, and track-based workshops designed to equip the next generation of Democratic leaders and organizers with the skills to win close races.
“We’re laying the groundwork for success in 2026 by training a new wave of campaigners, organizers, and candidates ready to fight for every corner of Missouri,” said MDP Chair Russ Carnahan. “Camp Carnahan is about investing in people to develop the leaders and organizers who make our Party stronger and move Missouri forward. This year’s class was one of the most impressive yet: driven, diverse, and ready to win tough races across the state. At a time when our values are under attack, this work has never been more important, and I’m proud to see so many Missourians stepping up to lead.”
2025 Camp Carnahan Class By The Numbers:
- Over 100 Missourians representing each congressional district attended Camp Carnahan
- Our youngest attendee was 16 years old, and our most experienced attendee was over 80 years old.
- Attendees traveled from 53 cities across 75 zip codes to attend, including Dixon, Neosho, St. Joseph, and Willard.
