Kansas City, MO (October 6, 2020) – After the president ordered COVID-19 relief negotiations to stop until after the election, Missouri Democratic Party spokesman Andrew Storey released the following statement:

“Today, thousands of Missourians just saw the President of the United States holding much needed relief hostage, with the ransom being his re-election. And where is Ann Wagner? While Representative Wagner hides from her constituents and ignores the impacts of the pandemic, she claims to be disappointed the negotiations have turned into a “political football”. Instead of abandoning her constituents and neglecting her most basic duty as a member of Congress, Rep. Wagner should immediately call on the president to come back to the negotiating table with a realistic offer that will help Missourians and small businesses suffering from this pandemic. Missouri’s Second District is sick of Congresswoman Wagner’s empty promises. If she truly doesn’t “like playing politics on this issue,” then perhaps she can finally stand up for the people she represents.”
