2026 State & Congressional races
On the first day of candidate filing, the Missouri Democratic Party had one of our most successful first filing days in decades, with 154 candidates filing to run in 123 out of the 189 congressional or state level races across the state this cycle on just the first day.
We currently have 219 candidates filed to run at the state or congressional level. The numbers to the right reflect the proportion of seats where we have a candidate either has filed or who has given the party a hard commit as to when they will file.
(Information retrieved at 8:00 AM on March 31, 2026)
If you want to see the unofficial list of candidates who are currently running in each race, you can see that list
here on the Missouri Secretary of State's website. After candidate filing closes at 5PM on March 31st, 2026, the Missouri Democratic Party website will have a central candidate hub, providing you with information about who is running in each race across the state ahead of the primary election on August 4, 2026.

Across the country, Americans are rejecting the chaos of the Republican Party and choosing the Democratic Party's vision of a country where everyone can thrive. There have been 92 special elections across the country since Donald Trump's took office in 2024 and Democrats have run ahead of their presidential election results in those races by an average of 13.1 percent!
If Missouri Democrats did 13.1% better across the board in 2024’s elections, we would have won:
- Twenty-four more seats in the Missouri State House of Representatives
- Three more seats in the Missouri State Senate
- The Governor's office and every other state government level race
- One U.S. Senate seat
- One additional Democratic from Missouri in Congress (Adiós Ann!)
What would the Democrats performing 13.1% better look like in Missouri?
Slide the below slider to the left to see for yourself using the 2024 election results.

The above numbers and graphic are based off of the actual 2024 election performance results in each district and the running Democratic performance average (as of March 6, 2026) in special elections across the country since Trump took office.
