Trump Consistently Lies to Americans After Terror Attacks  —  Will Missouri Republicans Demand Better?

After a new Associated Press analysis concluded that “President Donald Trump can’t be counted on to give accurate information to Americans when violent acts are unfolding abroad,” in the wake of tragic terrorist attacks in London, the Missouri Democratic Party is calling on Missouri’s Republican leaders to stand up for Missourians in the face of blatant dishonesty from the White House.

“The latest deadly London attacks, like one in the Philippines last week, prompted visceral reactions from Trump instead of statements shaped by the findings of the U.S. intelligence and diplomatic apparatus. He got ahead of the facts emerging in Britain’s chaos Saturday and got it wrong in the Philippines case, calling the episode there a ‘terrorist attack’ when it was not.”

Along with Senator Roy Blunt, who sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee, Missouri’s Republican Representatives Ann Wagner (MO2), Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO3), Vicky Hartzler (MO4), Sam Graves (MO6), Billy Long (MO7), and Jason Smith (MO8) have repeatedly put their partisan allegiances above the national security of the United States, refusing to hold President Trump accountable after his dangerously inappropriate response to terror attacks.

“President Trump’s delusional and blatantly dishonest response to serious terror attacks abroad is a danger that Missouri’s Republican officeholders need to denounce if they’re even close to being as serious about national security as they like to say they are.”
