Statement on Central Visual and Performing Arts High School Shooting from Missouri Democratic Party Chairman Michael Butler

Missouri Democratic Party (MDP) Chairman Michael Butler released the following statement today (October 24, 2022) regarding Monday’s shooting at Central VPA High School in Saint Louis, Missouri.


The Missouri Democratic Party is devastated to learn of Monday’s school shooting at Central VPA High School in Saint Louis, Missouri. Our prayers go out to all affected by this senseless tragedy. According to the Saint Louis Police Department, eight people in total were taken to the hospital with injuries. MDP learned a teenage girl was pronounced dead at the school, and another woman died at the hospital.


“Missouri Democrats are saddened by the acts of violence in St. Louis, and vow to keep fighting gun violence with legislation and action moving forward,” said Butler, following news of the shooting.


MDP will continue to monitor reports of this situation and offer any help and support to those affected.
