Kansas City, Mo. (January 15, 2020)  This afternoon at 3:00 p.m., unelected Governor Mike Parson is delivering his second State of the State address. It is the second time he has delivered the speech in the middle of the afternoon on a workday, as millions of Missourians go about their daily lives. Governor Parson’s outline of his priorities for Missouri couldn’t be more disconnected from average Missourians. His delivery of priorities while most Missourians aren’t paying attention demonstrates who he is working for: the well connected insiders who spend their days working the hallways of the Capitol.

Missouri Democratic Party Executive Director, Lauren Gepford, released the following statement:

“Governor Parson is demonstrating that he isn’t ready for prime time by delivering an address crafted by and directed to the politicians and insiders that run Jefferson City. This Governor is a creature of the Jefferson City insider-class and is most comfortable speaking exclusively to lobbyists and politicians rather than working families. Missourians are looking for a Governor willing to engage with them directly on an agenda that addresses their needs, but instead Governor Parson is delivering for the well connected while they’re busy at work or picking up the kids from school.”
