Kansas City, Mo. (February 5, 2019) – Late yesterday, the GOP majority in the Missouri General Assembly pushed through an amendment by a voice vote to weaken a voter-approved constitutional provision that required the legislature to adhere to the same transparency laws as everyone else in government.

Missouri Democratic Party Executive Director Lauren Gepford released the following statement:

“Missouri voters spoke clearly when they overwhelmingly passed Clean Missouri last November. The House Republicans apparently think they know better than the people who elected them. We will hold each of them to account by reminding voters in their districts of where they stood on this important test of their commitment to government transparency.”
