Missouri Democratic Party on SCOTUS’ decision to hear ACA case

Kansas City, MO (March 2, 2020) – The Supreme Court revealed today that it intends to hear a third case deciding the fate of the Affordable Care Act and, by extension, the fate of the 20 million Americans who will lose healthcare coverage if the ACA is repealed. Missouri Democratic Party Executive Director Lauren Gepford issued the following statement:

“The message that the Republicans challenging the ACA are sending is loud and clear – they don’t care whether you can afford the health care you need. If they did, they wouldn’t be trying to eliminate a policy that has led to a nearly 6-point decline in America’s uninsured rate, and they wouldn’t be stripping protections from those with pre-existing conditions. What makes this even worse, after pushing for repeal for years, President Trump and the Republicans still have no alternative plan. Missourians deserve better than constant threats to their healthcare coverage, and they deserve better than Governor Parson’s hand-picked Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who eagerly took up the fight against Missourians’ health and well being right where Josh Hawley left off.”
