Kansas City, MO (September 10, 2020) – Before his time working to undermine the United States Postal Service, Louis DeJoy was allegedly reimbursing employees for donations he pressured them into giving to Republicans across the country, illegally. While he was allegedly taking part in the illegal scheme, DeJoy made a donation of $1,801.25 to the Missouri Republican State Committee in 2004, when Congresswoman Ann Wagner was Chair of the Party. Missouri Democratic Party spokesperson Andrew Storey made the following statement:

“Louis DeJoy writing a check to the Missouri Republican Party is more of what we’ve come to expect. While allegedly orchestrating an illegal system of pressuring his employees into making donations then illegally reimbursing them, DeJoy enjoyed the benefits of becoming a close ally to powerful Republicans, like Ann Wagner, who was the Chair of the Missouri Republican Party at the time of the donation. Congresswoman Wagner has a long history of rubbing elbows with the elite insiders like Louis DeJoy.

The Missouri Democratic Party is calling on the Missouri Republican Party to return the donation Louis DeJoy made while allegedly illegally reimbursing employees for campaign donations he pressured them into making. Former Missouri GOP Chair, Congresswoman Ann Wagner and the Missouri Republican Party should immediately denounce DeJoy’s alleged scheme and do what is right.”
